Turtle Snorkels with Hotel Pickup from Waikiki
Which Waikiki turtle snorkels pick you up at your hotel, the pickup points, and when it is easier to walk to the Hilton lagoon or a beach catamaran.
Three turtle snorkels from Waikiki include pickup at set points around the hotels: Oceanstar, Blue Ocean Snorkeling and YOLO Hawaii. All the others meet you at the boat, and that is no hardship if the boat leaves from the Hilton lagoon, the Hilton pier or the sand of Waikiki Beach. Pickup earns its place when the boat sails from Kewalo Basin Harbor, about 3.7 km (2.3 miles) by road from Kalakaua Avenue, where parking is limited and costs $2 to $3 an hour. Oceanstar’s four hours collect you at one of 12 points in Waikiki, from $107 in current promotion (usually $120) a person (checked November 2026).
The three trips with pickup
| Trip | Pickup | On the water | Price from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oceanstar, Turtle Canyon and water toys | 12 points in Waikiki, among them the Hyatt Place, the Renaissance, the Prince Waikiki, the Hilton Garden Inn and Biki station 315 | About three hours: the turtles, then kayaks, paddleboards and sea chairs; a lifeguard on board | $107 in current promotion (usually $120) |
| Blue Ocean Snorkeling, 6-in-1 | Set points in Waikiki, arranged with the operator after you book | Three hours from Kewalo Basin: snorkeling, kayaks, paddleboards, sea scooters | $90 |
| YOLO Hawaii, turtles and water scooters | 12 points in and around Waikiki, about 30 minutes each way by van | A guided snorkel, electric water scooters, musubi and cup noodles | $84 in current promotion (usually $120) |

Going to Kewalo Basin on your own

Kewalo Basin is a state harbor on Ala Moana Boulevard, owned by the Hawaii Community Development Authority and run by a private operator under a long lease, west of Ala Moana Beach Park. From the Royal Hawaiian on Kalakaua Avenue it is about 3.7 km (2.3 miles) by road, around ten minutes by taxi or 50 minutes on foot. Parking by the boats costs $2 or $3 an hour and spaces are limited, so come early or take a taxi. Every Kewalo boat asks you to be at the pier 15 to 30 minutes before it sails, so leave time for the gate: the departure points guide has the pier and slip for each one.
When pickup is not worth paying for
If your hotel is in the middle of Waikiki, three boats are a walk away and need no pickup at all:
- Island Splash Tours loads beside the Hilton lagoon, 90 minutes on the water, from $73 in current promotion (usually $81).
- Holokai Catamaran checks you in at the Outrigger Reef on Kalia Road and boards on the beach, from $85.
- The Hāwea catamaran waits on the sand behind the Duke Kahanamoku statue, from $85.
